Consideration for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

On June 15, 2012, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano issued a memo regarding “Consideration for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” (DACA). DACA is a benefit allowing non-citizens who were under the age of 31 on June 15, 2012 and meet certain criteria to apply for protection from deportation for renewable two-year periods. Individuals who are granted DACA may receive work authorization and, in certain limited cases, permission to travel abroad.
